Common questions
- Who are the people already in the app?
- Examples, so the app isn't empty the first time you open it: three people, a few occasions and gifts, a Christmas budget, and the usual gift-giving holidays. Tap Remove on the "These are examples" card on the Home screen and all of it disappears. Anything you added yourself stays, and so does any occasion you added your own gifts or people to or edited.
- What's free, and what does the unlock add?
- Free: up to 4 people, the examples included, so you can add one person of your own before you remove the examples, and 4 after. Occasions, holidays and budgets are always free and unlimited. A one-time purchase, Unlock Giftokeep, adds unlimited people. There is no subscription.
- What does "≈" in front of a price mean?
- It's an estimate Giftokeep filled in for you, from what you paid before or from typical prices where the gift was bought. To change it, open the gift and type the real price under Exact amount. If you don't know it, keeping the estimate is fine. Totals that include an estimate say so.
- Why aren't amounts in different currencies added up?
- Because there's no honest exchange rate for a gift from years ago. Each currency is totalled on its own.
- Which holidays appear under Occasions?
- A few gift-giving days for your region, so you can start planning straight away: Valentine's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day and Christmas in most countries. They have no fixed date and nobody in them until you add people. Delete any you don't need by swiping it to the left, and add your own occasions, like a wedding or a Secret Santa, with the + button.
- Does Giftokeep sync between my devices?
- Yes, from version 1.2, through your own iCloud. If you're signed in to iCloud and iCloud is on for Giftokeep, your gifts come back on a new iPhone or after a reinstall, and stay the same on every iPhone with your Apple Account. With iCloud off, your data stays on the iPhone where you entered it and is included in its backups.
- Can the person I'm buying for see what I planned?
- Only if they look at your phone. Giftokeep sends nothing anywhere, and it will never put a gift's name in a notification.
